Client Background

Started in 1933, Famous Supply is a third-generation, family-owned, wholesale distributor of HVAC, plumbing, Industrial/PVF, building products and training for installation and maintenance professionals. They also offer service, technical support and product selection assistance to provide customers the best service and support in the industry. The company has also gained notoriety for the annual Home Expo held in Cleveland, Ohio.

Famous Supply Company Wholesale Distributors had evolved its business strategy and selected a new name, Famous Enterprises, more inkeeping with the revitalized business strategy. The Caler&Company logo included the five service line categories and enabled the company to roll out its position with renewed relevance to customers, the financial community and staff.

The Challenge

Famous Supply sought to increase awareness for their showrooms and expand interest in their company into the consumer market through the conveyance of their breadth of services. Famous supply also wanted to build and strengthen relationships and establish a lasting partnership with a wide-range of suppliers, manufacturers and industry professionals.

Caler&Company worked closely
with management to understand
its goals and craft the Famous
TRUE PARTNERS program.
The Caler Team was in close
contact with Famous' supply
chain and helped orchestrate a
co-op program with over fifty
select industry partner /
suppliers including Kohler,
Delta, Moen and Aristokraft.

The resulting input led to a
contractor program, special
invitations and support to help
Famous contractors increase
their income and value to home
owners and to help Famous
solidify its relationships with
select installation technicians.

rubric leading to an
overwhelming number of
program enrollees. Famous
successfully captured
attention, hearts and minds
as they rolled out the new
marketing program.

to include industry-specific programs, customized
information and school curriculae while cross-selling
other Famous offerings.

Caler&Company helped Famous launch FAMOUS
UNIVERSITY, a training program to help contractors
"get up-to-speed" with emerging statuatory
regulations and technical skills that would enable
them to "stand out from the bunch." The new school
became Famous' new profit center.

A variable direct marketing program helped
Famous communicate and solicit participation
in its tri-state EXPO held at Cleveland's I-X
Center. The EXPO proved to be the
company's largest turnout in its twenty
three-year history.

The Outcome

Working with 14 Famous showroom managers across three states, Caler&Company developed a cooperative marketing roll out program aimed at addressing the needs and wants of industry professionals, as well as the concerns and inclinations of consumers.

Targeted e-blasts were sent to a three-state area helping create awareness, interest and online registration. The result was the best-attended show in its twenty three-year history.

Originally, a catalog was to be created that would accomplish three goals: sell more products, help make customers aware of the Famous showrooms and act as an instrument to provide cross-selling opportunities. Seeing the potential for creating a marketing platform that would not only boost business, but also promote suppliers' products and its strategic business relationships. The catalog grew into the TRUE PARTNERS program and trusted brand name manufacturers such as Moen, Delta, Kohler, Aristokraft, Alcoa and Bradford-White began offering their support. Famous True Partners became a powerful marketing program that sparked considerable fiscal benefits for Famous, its contractors and national brand manufacturers.
